2016-17 NBA Preview: Philadelphia 76ers
What in the hell did I sign up for accepting to cover the 76ers!! It did sound fun at first; this was looking like a fun team, the beginning of a process realized. #1 Pick Ben Simmons, finally able to see Joel Embiid, one of my favorite young players Nerlens Noel, a 2nd year of Jahil Okafor, top European Dario Saric and the flashy set up man Sergio Rodríguez.
The Reality of “The Process”
1. Simmons broke his foot.
2. Embiid is playing 20 mins max in 4 min spurts
3. Noel had "minor" surgery on a part of his knee I never heard about
4. Who knew Okafor was even hurt?
5 & 6. I don't care for European players.
But here I am covering the Philadelphia 76ers, where my guess would be a starting TJ McConnell, Gerald Henderson and Robert Covington.
The first five 76ers games include games from Russell Westbrook and OKC, the Atlanta Hawks (Howard vs. Embiid should be fun for 8 mins) Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets and LeBron James & co. (Good chance this could be a LeBron rest day). I'm not going to attempt to break down these games because I have no clue who Philly will even have on the court.
Most excited thing Philly fans have to look forward to will be trade rumors and watching College Basketball to see who joins this team next. But in seriousness Embiid should be fun every four mins and Nerlens plus Simmons will be exciting when they return.
