Thoughts on the TV Series Atlanta by a Real Atlantan

Thoughts on the TV Series Atlanta by a Real Atlantan

Aye aye, Steve checking in, The Petty Free ambassador, and young brother from the Southside of Atlanta. But enough about me the legend, let's talk about Atlanta.

So a few months ago, FX announced a show debuting called Atlanta. My first thought was, "Nigga it's lit!” Then I seen it was starring and written by Donald Glover. Then I got skeptical and mad. Donald Glover is from the east side, so that's cool. He's a great writer and actor, but he also raps under the name "Childish Gambino” not too sure of people here that listen to his music but I damn sure don't because it's not our music. So I always looked at Childish Gambino's music as Donald playing a role.

As time goes, you seen them filming around the city. They had signs that said "ATL" but niggas thought it was the ATL 2 the movie. They were in the hoods. Not no bullshit sets, they was really in these streets. I was still hating tho. Then episode 1 drops and it's amazing. The lingo, accents, locations, everything.

Atlanta is so relatable; shows how niggas be flexing on Instagram, how these heffas be acting in the clubs, Snapchat stories, struggles of finding a job in Atlanta, janky promoters. They even had a celebrity basketball game. They literally have a "celebrity" basketball game here bi-weekly lmao. I can keep going too.

Overall, I'm glad I was wrong as fuck about this show. It's really one of the best things I've watched in a long time. Great writing, acting and everything else. As an Atlanta resident, I stamp this show!!!!
