Let's Talk About The Bulls Vol. 2

Let's Talk About The Bulls Vol. 2

Heading into the Summer League Championship game, we were a perfect 6-0. Funny that we faced our ex-coach Tom "hey guys...go build a car from scratch during this TV timeout" Thibodeau for the trophy. It was a hard fought game that ended up in OT...AND WE WON.

Denzel Valentine hit a clutch 3 to send the game to OT, and then drilled a buzzer beater to secure a perfect 7-0 record along with the Summer League Championship. This game could have been against anyone, but the fact that it was against Thibs is both ironic and sweet. The irony lies in a rookie winning the game for us when Thibs refused to play rookies while he was in Chicago.

While I don't hang my hat on Summer League stats, I do pay attention to tendencies on both ends. Shot selection, defense, rebounding, you know how it goes. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing our young guys play and keep their composure in a few tight games, regardless of what was on the line. Valentine, who I watched at MSU, proved me right when I told people he just plays like a winner. We can only hope that he'll continue this play come regular season time, but I have no reason to believe he won't.

I feel good about winning this trophy because I saw something special in this group of guys after game 2; and because of whom we had to play for it. This has no bearing on the actual NBA Championship, but to Thibs I guarantee he lost his voice yelling to get this W and his Kevin James face ass couldn't get it done.

My key takeaways from this Summer League: Denzel Valentine can do everything you need, rebounds, and doesn’t take bad shots. Bobby Portis reminds me of KG with the attitude and if he can be a fraction of "The Big Ticket", like K. Dot said: nigga we gon’ be alright. I like this team. Dinwiddie made a believer out of me. Jerian Grant does great things when he attacks the rim but will fall in love with his jumper to a fault. Christiano Felicio can flat out play. While I'll admit Felicio resembles George Foreman and that makes it hard for me to fully trust him, I love his game and I love him for the team.

Weeeeeee are the champions, my friend. This Summer League squad with our veterans will be very interesting come regular season time. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE BULLS.
