Album Review | Day 2 Day: Still Dreamin' - Consci8us
Consci8us is a musician/rapper out of Oakland, CA. Now before you go to judge because of the location, this album is not to be deemed as hyphy, ratchet, or any of the above. His name actually speaks for itself; this is conscious music with relatable lyrics for everyone. Not to mention the sound. With real instruments being used on the beats, it’s hard not to vibe with this project. He starts off saying he’s no Nas, Kendrick, or Cole, but the lyricism is up there with it. Day 2 Day: Still Dreamin has a lot of potential of being an album for the store shelves and may even catch you by surprise from all of the content that is within this. It’s a breath of fresh air from all of the trap era music that we here today and keeps you with an open mind.
Consci8us is an artist who doesn’t care about being popular, but more so about his self respect as he states in one of his songs titled Imagine (Introlude). He doesn’t glorify the drugs and alcohol, but more so tells about being his own man and not succumbing to peer pressure. His versatility shows on the song My Life’s Been Like A Maze. I would recommend anyone reading this to take a listen and see for yourself. I can see Consci8us making it far if he keeps staying on this path. Although the other different type of rap is catchy and trendier these days, we need more rappers like him. There’s nothing much more to say about this project because the music will do most of the talking to show and prove. So, I encourage you to go on and take a listen to Day 2 Day: Still Dreamin’. You won’t be disappointed.
