Lost In The Darkness - a poem

Lost In The Darkness - a poem

I.

Moving along down an illuminated path.
Not moving alone, accompanied by Light.

II.
The Light that allowed me to grow,
 without fear of the Dark.
The Light that turned my tears into wine,
 my fears into laughs.
The Light that kept me free of sorrow,

always looking forward to tomorrow.

III.
Like everything else in my life,
 I screwed it up.
I screwed up in an uncharacteristic way,
but perhaps it was characteristic.
Not for lack of care,
but for the habit of screwing up.

IV.
Losing every good thing in my life.
Worse than screwing up was not realizing it.
I earned your Anger and your Wrath,
 But didn’t notice it.
I kept walking foolishly.
 I kept walking blindly.

V.
I still walk blindly,
For sight without Light is impossible.
