Greener Grass - a poem

Greener Grass - a poem

Everyday on my way to work

I would stop to marvel at this beautiful house

Modern, massive, a magnet to the eyes

The front yard was intimidatingly large

The kind with the half circle driveway that leads into the street

I've always wanted that driveway that leads to the street

Sitting at the top of the driveway was a seductive cherry red Porsche

The entire estate called my name

What I made in a week they must've paid in landscaping

I don't think I've even seen this shade of green anywhere but here

Multicolored stones garnish the driveway

The real bait however was the front door

It had to be 15 maybe 20 feet high

All glass with a golden handle

From the street you can see directly into the foyer

The early morning sun collides with the chandelier

It's rays dancing frantically on the marble floors

The light leads your eyes to the rear of the house

The glass theme continues

And a sliding panel leads to an enormous pool

I wonder how many rooms?

How many baths?

Rainfall showers?

They have to have an island kitchen!

My lust overwhelms me and I snap back to reality

At that moment I realize I left my phone at home

I'm already late

My house addiction usually runs me over a minute or two

With haste I head home to grab the phone and get to work

I pull up and immediately a lump forms in my throat

Horrified beyond belief

I find a "FOR SALE" sign erected in the grass of my lawn.....
