I Held You - a poem

I Held You - a poem

I held you

like a memory in mind

lost love, in my heart

I held you like the moment we first kissed

which time held forever

stars agleam, your skin

blackening the blue of midnight

yet still shimmering

I held you as you cried.

The universe seemed too big to wrap

your arms around

and life gets overwhelming sometimes

our shattered souls fit together

a Mosaic

As the bell tolled for thee

I held you,

though the bell was my heartbeat

I wiped your tears

kept you close

kissed your lips

helped you find your smile.

I held you.

You slipped through hands.

And like water
