The Thursday HIT (Honored In Time) - Blade Icewood

The Thursday HIT (Honored In Time) - Blade Icewood

Where I'm from, Blade Icewood is a legend. He championed Detroit in his music, looked just like us, and spoke for us. Whether you were knee deep in the streets and could relate to it, or working a 9 to 5 and had dreams of it; Blade was inspirational. I remember listening to his music being proud to be from the city because of how he spoke about us for the world to hear.

I remember my big bro, who's birthday is today, would put me up on the new Street Lordz music and I couldn't wait to hear Blade's verse on each song because I knew he would have a quotable. I not only heard the star quality, but I saw it. The jewelry, the clothes, the cars; and to know people who could verify that he was living what he rapped was special.

When you hear "boss up", that's Blade. He really left a legacy that us native Detroiters will never forget. His reach went beyond the city, but home will always remember the Great Lake Ruler. Rest easy, legend.
