Concert: The Lox Invade Highline Ballroom

The legendary Highline Ballroom is bringing you hip hop this week.  Arguably one of the best hip hop groups of all time The LOX will hit the stage Thursday, December 15 at 8pm, and one of the most authentic, talented, socially conscience rappers of all time Talib Kweli on February 10 at 7:30pm.

Not that you need a bio of L O X, here's a brief bio of this legendary group:  The LOX - an acronym for Living Off Experience - are a Yonkers, New York-based rap trio who worked their way up through the Bad Boy training camp, writing and rapping on hits by the likes of Puff Daddy, the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey before releasing their debut album in early 1998. After many years topping the charts, label changes and legal problems kept the group from recording as a unit. They finally reunited in 2013 and have been recording as a group since then.

The result of his artistic growth and exploration arrives with Talib Kweli’s dynamic Prisoner Of Conscious AKA P.O.C., an artistic tour de force that signals the start of the next chapter of Kweli’s remarkable career. The Brooklyn-born MC spent more time working on Prisoner Of Conscious than any of his other albums, a three-year journey that found him exploring new vibes, and joining in some unlikely collaborations.
