I Don't Wanna Talk About the Bulls Vol. 5

Gar Forman was asked about his free agency plans and he sounded like someone was whispering the answers to him from behind the curtain; "pssst say you're working on it. Say "younger" and "more athletic"...they'll buy it". I like to think that when Gar heard "free agency" he actually had to do his Googles to see if it was a real thing. Our past summers have been very bland, gluten free agency if you will; but this time it's looking like the pressure is on to deal.

They started by signing Rajon Rondo to a 2 year $28M deal, in which the second year is partially guaranteed. In a summer where we've seen players get the Brinks truck backed into their living room, I like this deal for the money. I also like the deal for basketball reasons, and I know I'm in the minority. Rondo doesn't look to score first, so I feel as though Jimmy Butler will benefit the most in this situation. Is Rondo a defensive liability? Absolutely. You want to know who the alternative is as our starting PG though...JOSE CALDERON. Yes, I'm the "well he's better than Calderon" guy, fight me.

Rondo, aside from looking like that highly judgmental aunt who makes good mac and cheese, can set the table. There are times when it seems that he'll look to get assists to pad his stats while breaking the offense, but he's better than Calderon. Him and Jimmy Butler will either fight at the next UFC event or on the same charity-boxing card Martin fought Tommy Hearns; but he's better than Calderon. Hoiberg may end up in a WWE handicapped cage match against Jimmy and Rondo, but...yea you know the rest.

Listen, we're in no position to be choosy while begging, and either way; I like the pickup. We didn't overpay, in my opinion, and I do like Rondo for what he does. Next season isn't exactly going to be a Finals run, let's keep it real, but it'll be fun to watch the young talent develop around a few vets.

I anticipate a few trades in the coming weeks involving one, or a combination of, Taj Gibson, Tony Snell, and Mike Dunleavy Jr. to get "more athletic" since Gar learned new words. Until then, you know who doesn't wanna talk about you know what.
