NYG Report: Week 7 vs. Rams Recap

NYG Report: Week 7 vs. Rams Recap

Week 7 kicks off with a game across the pond, in London, against the LA Rams. The fact that we're coming off a win and heading into the Bye week makes this yet another a must win game for us. Must win in the sense of momentum and confidence, both very much needed.

In what was probably the ugliest game of the NFL season, even by our standards, we emerged victorious. The defense, in particular Landon Collins, was directly responsible for bringing this one home.

Landon finished with 2 interceptions, 1 of which was returned for a pick 6 and arguably the best defensive play of the entire NFL season.

DRC snagged 2 interceptions himself; including one to end the game that looked like Case Keenum was simply playing catch with a friend before the game.

One thing that concerns me is 7 weeks into the season, our offense, as a whole hasn't had that "oh shit" game. Odell went off against the Ravens, Shepard has had great moments, and Cruz has shown that he's back...but we haven't looked "scary" yet. I'm critical of that aspect because I know we can be unstoppable offensively if the play calling improves...*cranes neck at McAdoo*.

It's only so long we can blame offensive line play or make Eli take the blame before we have to look at who's calling these horrible plays. Did we sneak Gilbride back in the door? Are we choosing to "Ask Madden"? Let me know.

All in all, I never apologize for ugly wins. Ugly wins are wins nonetheless, the alternative is looking "good" in a loss; aka a moral victory. The goal was to head into the Bye week above .500 on a 2 game winning streak and that's exactly what we did. Are there areas we can improve? Absolutely. Is it impossible? Not at all! This Bye week is much needed at this particular juncture of the season if you ask me. Eli and McAdoo need to find that same magic from last season that led to Ben's hiring as full time head coach.

Game ball goes to the NFC Defensive Player Of The Week Landon Collins overall, but the defense is 100% responsible for putting this game away. Odell's numbers weren't necessarily sexy but he made the most clutch plays when we needed him to and that's what counts. I'll assess the team in full next week.

4-3 headed into a Bye is all I asked for after a rocky start and they delivered. We have a stress free week ahead to get better heading into a home game vs. the Eagles. Holla.
