Put Me In Coach - a poem

Put Me In Coach - a poem

Ha!

You said you wouldn’t be back

I'm not underestimating the prospect of losing you

After our past

All we had

It would seem

For you to think

That I will allow you to just leave

Would make you the one

That's delusional

I'll speak clearly

With conviction

Mustn't run the risk of confusing you

Retaining the heart and trust

I've betrayed is my 1st priority

However

Your absence tells me

There's so much more

I must prove to you

You scoff at my confidence

But riddle this

If I didn't believe

I could win you back

Would you even want me to chase?

Time being of importance

And essence

Since ours is now borrowed

Why would you want me to waste?

More half-assing

Abandoning the task

Of reuniting our spirits

The Bond we build to last

Push on I will

In the distance

You're bracing

Impact is imminent

You ran away

I'm now in chase

Closing in

Thunderous footsteps

By now I know you hear it

Almost in my reach

Ecstatic at the chance to feel again

So here I stand beaten embarrassed

Sorrowed

Guilty yet willing

Will you give us the chance to be real again?
