Return To The Forest - a poem

Return To The Forest - a poem

I.

At long last I have returned from the forest,

Forever uncertain why I had ever returned to the forest.

In the forest is everything I loathe.

The forest is an unforgiving temptress.

The forest lures you in with promises of great glory,

II.

The forest promises to provide the greatest soirée.

The forest is filled with green,

The forest assures you that in it lies nothing mean.

III.

The forest is instead filled with lies,

It is nothing but a mirage.

It's impossible in the forest to survive,

let alone to prosper or to thrive.

In the forest you wish for your death,

Forever yearning to take your last breath.

Forever cursing your last breath for not being your last breath.

IV.

In the forest lies an ugly beast,

Your soul and happiness provide his feast.

To kill you is not her goal, she keeps you alive.

To see you miserable fulfills her wish.
