Whiskey Frenz Harlem Bar Crawl with Tito’s Vodka

Whiskey Frenz Harlem Bar Crawl with Tito’s Vodka

On a crisp evening in Harlem, 7 brave souls ventured through the streets of Harlem in search of the best vodka classic cocktail.  Alvin Blanco (EIC, Hip Hop Wired), Chris Styles (Podcaster, host), Eb The Celeb (Influencer, Podcaster), Genese Jamilah (Founder of Idontdoclubs.com), Michael Chinn (Production Manager, CentricTV)  and Justin Joseph (Director, CentricTV, BET Networks) braved through Harlem conquering everything they saw.  The bar crawl which was powered by the ever popular Tito’s Vodka, included 4 stops around some of Harlem’s best cocktail bars and tasting classic vodka drinks made with Tito’s as well as a DIY competition.

The first stop in the crawl was the underground hot spot Under Bar, which uses a password entry and its located under one of Harlem’s crown jewels, Row House.

There we discovered the classic Martini.  Expert bartender from Under bar gave us a brief history in to the Martini and how it became a staple in the cocktail world. Afterwards we challenged our crawl goers to make the best Martini, at the end Mychael won with his Martini with a chocolate twist.

Next, was Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s casual new spot, Street Bird.

At street bird we learned about the Moscow Mule.  This drink is popular due to its simple ingredients and iconic copper metal mug.

The third stop, although brief was Harlem Tavern, which highlighted vodka’s dessert drink the White Russian (formerly Black Russian).

The White Russian is made up of vodka, and cream or coffee liqueur.  The last stop was the culmination of so many amazing drinks, experiences and discovery.  Angel of Harlem was our final rest stop where we become familiar with the Cosmopolitan.

Made popular in the 1990s because of HBO’s Sex in the City, this drink is the epitome of sexy, swag and women empowerment.  Originally a Gin drink, the Cosmo was dormant for decades until the 1990s.  Angel’s showed us how delicious this drink can be and we had plenty to try.

The Tito’s Bar Crawl was a way for Whiskey Frenz to showcase Harlem’s ever-growing cocktail culture scene.  No longer do you have to leave Uptown Manhattan for a great drink, experience or a good time.  We ask that you come Uptown and visit every single location, and when you get there, ask for Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
