Yes, it's True; I'm a Bulls Fan

Well, it’s time, time for me to man up and claim this. Yes, it’s true I am a Chicago Bulls Fan. Every time Dwayne Wade shoots a fade away three from the corner with 17 seconds left on the shot clock I log off twitter. We will beat the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers and then get blown off the planet by the BUCKS…TWICE. One night we look old one night we look like youthful veterans. Some games we see Jimmy Buckets and others we just see an ashy Jimmy and sometimes Wade looks like he needs to go lie down somewhere for the night. It’s a roller coaster ride and you never know what to expect at tip off. Lets dig a little deeper.

Currently my Bulls are 13-13 and in 4th place in the central division of the Eastern Conference. In that central division you have the Bulls, Pistons, Cavs, Bucks and Pacers and we are one game away from being in last place. The Bulls started off seemingly hot going 10-6 and since then its just been tragedy. Coach Hoiberg has said his team needs to get their “swagger” back and start back having fun. As much as I love when middle aged caucasian men use the word “swagger” this didn't help me feel any better as a Bulls fan. The rotations I see don’t make any sense. If I see Mirotic at the 3 one more time I might catch a charge because he clearly cannot guard anything on the wing. If we have any shot of making the playoffs and getting out of the first round we need to acquire a backup point guard who can score and or a pure knock down shooting specialist. Lets look at the roster. Rondo is admirable at his age and gets the offense into sets that usually revolve around Jimmy or Lopez scoring, but once he leaves the game Canaan isn’t the answer. Nikola Mirotic is that shooter that we need but its hard to keep him on the floor in crucial game moments when he cant guard my uncle coming off a screen. Lopez has been an upgrade to Joakim and has shown he can provide double digit points and rebounds regularly. Wade is a hall of fame who needs to stay healthy for the playoffs and he has improved his 3-point shot from last year. Jimmy Buckets is our only all star and is playing like it. Taj Gibson is a mixture of finesse and power in the post and a very solid defender who also needs to stay healthy for the playoffs. If the Bulls are to make the playoffs and be a force its up to the bench to improve or be improved.

As aforementioned earlier the Bulls started 10-6 and ranked 12th in the league in scoring and now they rank 23rd. Most true Bulls fans are looking forward to an upcoming 12 game stretch of all sub .500 teams where we can get back on track. As a Bulls fan you do have hope after seeing wins against not only the Cavs but also the Spurs, which are both powerhouses. With young talent on our bench in Bobby Portis, Denzel Valentine to go with more seasoned Mirotic and McDermott it all looks good on paper. Hopefully we can see consistency on both ends from this group as well as the starters because if healthy and in the playoffs we could be a force. In Hoiberg we trust, I guess.

Tonight we play the pistons. What are my thoughts? I’m glad you asked. I’m a Reggie Jackson fan. He’s cold blooded sometimes and other times just average, wildly inconsistent, coming off injury, we should be able to keep him in check. Taj will have his hands full chasing that Morris twin and Tobias if Stan rotates them at the 4 but on the other end Taj should have some success down in the post against him as he usually does against most players. Hopefully Hoiberg assigns Butler to match up with Caldwell Pope, which is there most consistent guard play, and Rondo will have to have plenty of Gatorade available to chase Ish around all night. They have nobody on their team to take away Butler or Wade so most of our scoring should come from the perimeter if we can make shots. Down low will be ugly. I don't wish having to guard Drummond on anybody especially big Robin, but we cant shut down everybody. Andre is going to get his, but as long as we can limit second chance opportunities and box him out somewhat consistently we should be fine. The name of the game for this will be making shots and when Andre is out of the game attack attack attack. My prediction? Bulls 101 Pistons 94
