2017 NBA Finals: Game 1 Recap - Warriors vs. Cavs (Warning: Contains 🔥 Takes)

I’d like to start this piece by stating that Patrick McCaw is having the best rookie season in NBA history. Now that we’ve got my hottest of hot takes out of the way let’s go ahead and discuss the obliteration of the Cavaliers last night.

Despite only having an 8 point lead going into halftime, last night’s game was never really close. I seem to remember a certain someone, me, telling you all that it would be like this. I’m not one to hate to say I told you so because I love telling people I told you so. Both teams started off with the Finals jitters. You could see it in both teams at the beginning of the game. Once the Warriors found their rhythm, the 3rd Quarter Boys went on a rampage that simply could not be contained. And here’s the thing, only KD and Steph actually found their rhythm; the only two to really find it on the offensive end anyway. Steph Curry hit for 28 points on 50% shooting. As I stated before, I hate the injury excuses. But doesn’t Steph appear to be a lot more agile than he did in Games 6 and 7 of last year’s NBA Finals? He made the Cavs defense look exactly what Warriors fans told you they were, which is terrible. Cleveland simply had no answer for Steph. And then there is KD. There was someone who wrote an article stating that KD drops 30 bombs on Bron every time he plays against him. Do you remember who that was? It was me; in case you all were wondering. KD dropped 38 points on the Cavs in a complete onslaught. They were so worried about guarding the 3-point line that KD was getting dunk after dunk completely uncontested. I guess the Warriors turned out to be a lot more difficult to prepare for than the Celtics. Who could have guessed that?

The scary part about the massacre from last night is that Klay Thompson went 3-16 from the field if I’m not mistaken. Are we to believe he is going to play like that all series? I highly doubt it. In the event that he does, it’s fine. The Warriors don’t necessarily need Klay to be an offensive weapon. He has been much more effective on the defensive end and that’s where he is needed the most. Kyrie had a crazy 1st half and then scored a grand total of 9 points in the 2nd half. I forgot Kyrie was even on the court at times to be honest with you. The Cavaliers went 1-13 when Klay was the primary defender. One basket. Uno. That’s pretty amazing considering the amount of praise most people give LeBron and Kyrie. For those of you who think Klay is going to leave due to not making shots and now being more of a third option, I would like to tell you in the most disrespectful way to shut the fuck up. Where do you all come up with this stuff? The Warriors are not like your favorite players. Even if I was on the outside looking in I can see that the Warriors are about the team. I mean…KD is already talking about negotiating a pay cut so that they can keep the team intact. I’m 1000% positive that Klay favors winning over going to a nothing ass team like some of the ones you all cheer for and averaging 30 a game.

The Cavaliers role players need to step up big time. Iman Taylor and Tristan Kardashian were complete no shows last night. One of them is getting paid $80 million to have 0 points and 4 rebounds. Everything went wrong for the Cavs last night but it’s not like everything went right for the Warriors. As I stated before, the only 2 Warriors players that went crazy offensively is Steph and KD. I liked the minutes that the bench played as well. Shout out to “We Believe” Matt Barnes getting Finals minutes. The only Barnes we acknowledge. Do I expect the Cavs to make adjustments? Of course I do. Do LeBron and Kyrie have it in them to go off in a way that Steph and KD did? They absolutely do. But here’s the thing…will it even matter? Their only hope is to try and slow the game down and I just don’t think that will be possible. And don’t expect Draymond to lose his cool at any point during this series. He might get himself a tech or 2 but I’m sure he has learned his lesson from last year.

Most of you really don’t know shit about basketball and I find it appalling. Warriors’ fans watched the Cavs struggle to get wins against the Pacers and Boston; regardless of the sweep and the 4-1 victories. They really had to work for those wins. The Warriors have won 13 straight in the post season by an average of like 18 points. These teams are not equals no matter how bad you want them to be. Like Draymond said in an interview, Bron can have the GOAT title he just can’t have this ring. Those 40+ minutes a game in all 13 games they played before seeing the Warriors is catching up to him. He looked exhausted last night and the sad part is that the Cavs really can’t afford to not have him in the game. I believe I told you all in a previous article all those minutes would have him gassed before the Finals began. Damn, don’t you all hate that I’m always right?
