Rise Up: Super Bowl 51 Prediction - Dear, Falcons...
Do you see what you’ve done? I’ve lived in Atlanta my entire life and I have never seen the city more excited than it has been these past two weeks. There is so much black and red everywhere and I have never spoken to, hugged, high-fived, and smiled at as many strangers as I have recently. You have ignited us as a fan base and I don’t know if there are words to express how proud of you I am. We’ve been here before, this same day we as Falcons fans have lived it before. There were nerves and excitement, but there wasn’t a whole lot of belief. Granted I was 10 at the time, and was really only interested in seeing the love of my life, Jamal Anderson, do the Dirty Bird in the end zone. So, there’s a chance I could be wrong, but I know one thing for sure…..the city was not on fire the way it has been since we beat Green Bay two weeks ago.
I have been a Falcons fans for as long as I remembered. My loyalty wasn’t always pure, but when you are forced to sit in an Applebee’s with your father and brother on a Sunday afternoon a few times a month, you eventually get interested. It becomes more about the game and less about the cute player. You start to ask questions, and start to form opinions and then all of a sudden you know dates for when training camp starts. You look forward to August because you know football will be back and you dread Super Bowl Sunday because you don’t want the season to end.
I was here when we lost to Denver in 98, and when we officially lost Vick as our QB, and then going 4-12 in 2013 only one year after losing the NFC Championship. I was here at the beginning of this season when the “experts” said we were going 5-11 and I’ll be here for the rest of my life regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game. I know that you have the weight of the world on your shoulders right now, because everyone doubts you. Despite everything you’ve done this season, people are still counting you out. You are STILL the underdog. Tonight as you take that field I need you to know that you have the whole state, really the whole country, rooting for you. The only thing that can stop you now is YOU.
See the difference between now and 98’ is that we BELIEVE you will win this game. You can do what no other Falcons team has been able to do and bring that beautiful ass trophy home to Atlanta. You’ve been preparing for this night all season and here we are, right on the edge of greatness. You have the number one offense in the league and as of Saturday night the league MVP. You have a city that believes in you, and you have a brotherhood that you’ve built amongst yourselves. Tonight you will do what they said you couldn’t do and when that clock hits 0:00 you will be champions.
RISE UP Falcons, and play like you’ve never played before. I can’t wait to see you ride down Peachtree in that parade this week.
In Brotherhood - Jaleesa
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I’ll keep my prediction short and sweet. Falcons win 34-31. RISE UP FALCONS...RISE. UP!!!
