My Favorite DFS Plays For NFL Week 8
Quarterback – Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers(FD$8800/DK$7500)
It hasn’t been pretty at all for Aaron Rodgers this year whether it’s fantasy or reality football. Last week it was better from a fantasy perspective as he put up numbers against a talent deficient Bears defense. The Atlanta Falcons have given up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing QBs this year and their offense should make this a relatively high scoring affair. Rodgers is in a prime spot this week.
Quarterback – Josh McCown – Cleveland Browns(FD$6400/DK$5200)
The Jets have consistently made enemy quarterbacks look like they’re participating in 7 on 7 drills. They’ve given up the sixth most passing yards in football and this is a game that has sneaky high scoring potential. I’d stack him with Terrelle Pryor and call it a day.
Quarterback – Jameis Winston – Tampa Bay Buccaneers(FD$7400/$5700)
Winston has been relatively predictable as far as his results this season. In the good matchups he’s prospered and in the bad matchups he hasn’t. The Raiders are arguably the worst pass defense in the sport so there will be Winston/Evans stacks in my future.
Quarterback – Derek Carr – Oakland Raiders(FD$7800/$5900)
There isn’t much science behind this pick. Carr is due for a huge statistical outing and in a game I think will have a lot of points I think he will get it. Also, Amari Cooper going up against Vernon Hargreaves might present Carr with a beautiful matchup to pick on the majority of the game.
Runningback – Devonta Freeman – Atlanta Falcons(FD$6900/DK$6500)
The Packers run defense is incredibly fraudulent. They’ve played against one team with a good running game and Ezekiel Elliott proceeded to gash them for 157 yards on 28 carries. Coleman may not play which would leave the backfield to Freeman. Given all the value around him, that may leave him relatively underowned.
Runningback – Devontae Booker – Denver Broncos (FD$5600/DK$3700)
The Chargers run defense is wildly mediocre and Booker has that backfield all to himself. In season long, he has league winning kind of upside. In daily, he has immense upside this week at a very reasonable price. He will be one of the most popular plays on the board though
Runningback – LeGarrette Blount – New England Patriots(FD$6600/DK$5300)
Revenge game. I think New England obliterates Buffalo which will lead to two things for Blount: A) touchdown chances and B) clock killing chances. He has six touchdowns in seven games this year with Brady under center
Runningback – Spencer Ware – Kansas City Chiefs (FD$7400/DK$6800)
The Colts have given up 4.9 yards a carry to opposing runningbacks this year and have allowed the fourth most receiving yards to runningbacks as well. Given that Ware is involved in every facet of the Chiefs offense, he’s in line for a huge day.
Wide receiver – Brandon Marshall – New York Jets (FD$7400/DK$7800)
I’ve been going to this well for a month with nothing to show for it. I’m going here again. As much as Ryan Fitzpatrick sucks, the Browns have allowed 18 receiving touchdowns this season and the eighth most fantasy points to wide receivers. Marshall is going to have to start being Marshall eventually, right? Or at least he has to start being Marshall for this week.
Wide receiver – Mike Evans – Tampa Bay Bucs (FD$7900/DK$8100)
Oakland is the most generous pass defense in football and Evans has gotten at least ten targets in every single game this season. Oakland has also allowed the fifth most fantasy points to wide receivers this year. Evans is my favorite wide receiver on the board this week.
Wide receiver – Donte Moncrief – Indianapolis Colts (FD$5400/DK$5400)
I was high on Moncrief all offseason and unfortunately his season was interrupted by injury. Kansas City has allowed the second most points to WRs this year and I don’t expect Moncrief to be this cheap for too long. He’s BAAAAACCCKKKKKKKKK.
Wide receiver – Amari Cooper – Oakland Raiders (FD$7400/DK$7600)
Lots of points, a leaky pass defense and a struggling rookie covering him is what Amari Cooper has going for him Sunday. FIRE HIM UP.
Wide receiver – Larry Fitzgerald – Arizona Cardinals(FD$7000/DK$7500)
Fitzgerald is third in the NFL in targets. While I don’t like targeting the Arizona offense anymore, this is too good a spot to not fire up Fitzgerald. Carolina’s defense has been beaten to a pulp by passing offenses all year and I think Fitz has an extremely high floor this week as a result.
Tight End – C.J. Fiedorowicz –Houston Texans (FD$4900/DK$2800)
Fiedorowicz (Jesus, this guy’s name is hard to spell) has been targeted 22 times in his last three games. Detroit offers a bottom three defense against tight ends so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 6/70/1 kind of line from him.
Tight End – Jordan Reed – Washington Redskins (FD$6800/DK$5900)
The Bengals give up 75 yards per game to enemy tight ends and are the fifth worst with regards to coughing up fantasy points to tight ends. You just have to hope like hell that he finishes the contest.
Tight End – Gary Barnidge – Cleveland Browns (FD$5000/DK$3300)
Gary Barnidge ($5,000) vs New York Jets – Josh McCown and Gary Barnidge made for a good duo last year. Barnidge’s statistics have picked up in recent weeks as he’s close to last year form. And again, the Jets are one of the worst pass defenses in football.
Tight End – Jimmy Graham – Seattle Seahawks (FD$6800/DK$6100)
New Orleans covers nobody, and Graham used to play for them. He’s going to be wildly popular but I’m going to play a lot of him anyway.
Patriots - I think this will be a thorough ass kicking in Orchard Park in all phases of the game.
