R&B is NOT Dead: The Emanny Effect

R&B is NOT Dead: The Emanny Effect

We hear it all the time with all genres of music, “it’s not the same anymore” or “it’s been dead” or “nobody makes good [genre] music like they used to” and so on and so forth. That’s almost never true, and it just tells me you’re not looking in the right places. You think R&B is dead? That just tells me nobody has put you on to Emanny yet, and I’m going to fix that.

If you’re a fan of Jadakiss or Joe Budden, you already know of Emanny. Don’t make the mistake of taking that and thinking you know Emanny, because he is so much more than just another hook guy. What makes him a great hook guy is a big part of what makes him stand out among the rest: his voice. Emanny has an incredibly soulful voice, reminiscent of the OGs of the R&B game; none of this auto tune nonsense. Emanny on a track can hit some incredible highs, and equally incredible lows, he’s got about as great of a vocal range as one could hope for, and it’s moving in and of itself. Emanny even writes his own songs, which is sadly getting rarer nowadays, and they are about as good as it gets.

So far, Emanny has put out 4 projects since 2014: Songs About YOU - EP, Songs About HER, Ms. 4:00 AM - EP, & Songs About HER 2. They’re all really good, and I’m not going to go in-depth on them all, but I’m going to pick out a few of my favorite tracks here and there and I’ll let you check out the rest on your own. Links to his artist pages at the bottom of the article, as per usual.

Songs About YOU – EP: My go to track here has got to be I Messed Up Again because we’ve all been there. You tell yourself one thing, you convince yourself of that thing, and then it’s the other thing all over again because that’s just how it goes. https://open.spotify.com/track/2TKCutxGnyCu86ex5tYfK5

Songs About HER: After Thought because we all get into that funk where we’re just going through the motions, been going through the motions, and you just know it’s not right but you’re still in it. Moving on can be the hardest thing in the world, but it’s worth the effort. Too often the door closes and we’re staring at it for too long before we accept that it closed. https://open.spotify.com/track/4K0tcGcKXRoVbvunQgiacJ

Ms. 4:00 AM – EP: Get Things Right because I’m a fighter and I just can’t get away from tracks like this. We invest entirely too much effort and energy in our relationships to just pack up and walk away at the first sight of difficulty. We’re gonna get through this, because it’s worth it. Or not, because I’m not gonna be the only one putting the effort in forever. https://open.spotify.com/track/5lbm1UboEIZUMxZ2VFTcM2

Songs About HER 2: Sober because what good is an R&B artist without a dirty mack track? Of course she should be doing better, you’re right there and her man doesn’t treat her right. https://open.spotify.com/track/3BapviqP5zjJ5kXZekAbk7

And of course, his newest single: Belongs To You https://open.spotify.com/track/33MTlYigQRlk6wjrPV30VQ

Beyond the songs I highlighted, I absolutely recommend checking out the rest of Emanny’s music and just seeing what works for you. Emanny is a true R&B artist, and he makes it all from heartbreak to baby making music, little something in there for every mood. Emanny is an old soul, with some new flavors, and it’s nearly impossible to walk away from his discography disappointed. You won’t find much auto tune here though, so if that’s your thing, just look elsewhere.
