Should Carmelo Anthony Waive his No-Trade Clause?
My answer is yes, the 2003 NBA draft class is one of best drafts is NBA history, which displayed great players like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade etc. The highlights of the 03 draft class is Bron, Wade and Chris Bosh teaming up in Miami and winning multiple championships. While LeBron was dominating the league with Cleveland and Miami, players like Melo and CP3 couldn't catch a break, Chris Paul got flipped crazy and could've ended up in LA on the Lakers but several owners of NBA teams cried to the commissioner of the league and the trade was vetoed, but according to David Stern at the time, the deal was "illegal" or whatever you want to call it. I the CP3, Kobe and Dwight Howard big 3 wouldn't of worked out in my opinion, they probably would've made some noise but Kobe was going through a terrible Achilles injury and he still had the mentality thinking he was Jordan, his 62 points retirement game was legendary and a perfect way to go out though but he's only the "2nd close to Jordan" cause he steals all his moves like the GOAT said. And that's why the Lakers had to settle for a washed up Steve Nash as PG. The CP3 trade was blocked so fast they had to turn the jet around and fly back to New Orleans, but CP3 ended up in LA eventually but it was on the Clippers instead.
Which leads me to Carmelo Anthony, please get this man out of New York before his time is up, before getting traded at the wrong time in NY Melo was going crazy on the Denver Nuggets, they even advanced to the Western Conference Finals in 2009, that year was our chance for a LeBron vs Melo finals showdown but the Lakers and the Orlando Magic with their 3 point shooters on PEDS interfered with that. According to Stephen A. Smith Carmelo was suppose to join Bron, Wade and maybe Bosh in Miami but he took the extension Denver offered him instead which was a terrible decision. That Big 4 in Miami would have been running the league and would be unstoppable but now you question why Bron left, was it Wade's health, Pat Riley had all the control? It makes you think, some people said Wade threw the 2014 finals which is a ridiculous interesting hot take. While Bron and Wade was winning in Miami, Melo was stressed in New York, huge market but nowhere to go in the playoffs, Phil Jackson steps in as Vice President and tricks Melo into signing a 5 year $125 million contract after declining a free agent destination to the Chicago Bulls, and I say trick because now Phil wants out after "firing" Derek Fisher and wants to go back to the Lakers, the whole "trust the process" "stay low and build" talk was bullshit. The best move Phil made for the Knicks was draft Porzingis, the kid can ball but now look what's going to happen, Phil might leave, Melo has no squad and could be ringless when his career is done.
So the answer is still yes, Melo needs to waive that no-trade clause and join a contender ASAP, but where would he go? Interesting question, there's only 1 team that's reigning the Eastern Conference and that's the Cleveland Cavs, could they somehow land Melo and form a "Big 4" with Bron, Irving and Love, its possible but the question is will the Cavs do it. Out west there's 4 teams Melo has a chance with, Spurs, Thunder, Clippers and unfortunately the Warriors, Melo is a Spurs or Clippers jersey wouldn't be a bad look, but he make a decision quick because time is running out, or he can wait until Bron forms the "Brotherhood Era" and run the league later in their careers but I'll talk about that later.
