NFL Week 4 Preview: Dolphins vs. Bengals
With short time to celebrate their lackluster win vs. the lowly Cleveland Browns the Dolphins hit the road to face another team in Ohio. This time it's the much more formidable Cincinnati Bengals. Both teams enter the TNF showcase at 1-2 looking to improve offensively with sloppy play in their first three games. With the unpredictable nature of TNF here's a gander of what might transpire tonight for the Miami Dolphins.
With a four running back rotation the Dolphins played lip service to running the football. Kenyon Drake appeared to have the most effectiveness while Jay Ajayi ended up scoring a touchdown in overtime. Look for Jay Ajayi to get more touches and possibly be a bell cow on the road against a Bengals defense bolstered by the return of LB Vontaze Burfict.
In the passing game it would appear that the Bengals have a weakness in the back end of their defense after surrendering four touchdowns to the Broncos. The Bengals defense gave up big plays often vertically. DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills look poised to exploit that but Ryan Tannehill will need time. The offensive line has not played well and the Bengals defensive line is strong with Gino Atkins and Dunlap prepared to wreak havoc tonight. With Jarvis Landry ailing a bit it may be tough sledding for the Dolphins tonight.
The Dolphins defense may be in position to dominate tonight for two reasons. The Bengals offensive line has been paper machè giving up a league leading 12 sacks. And Vance Joseph, former defensive backs coach for the Bengals is now the Dolphins defensive coordinator. With Joseph's intel and the Bengals offensive sputtering the defense may feast by creating pressure with Mario Williams and Cameron Wake.
Final Score: Miami 24 Bengals 16 in a small upset.
