Whiskey Frenz Trip to Tuthilltown Distillery w/ Lincoln Motor Company
Whiskey Frenz is an experience that combines different elements for tasting high quality spirits. The experience varies from blind tastings, DIY cocktails, mixology 101, and pairings with food to name a few. On a clear blue-sky day, ten adventurous bloggers, writers and influencers took the hour and a half trip courtesy of Lincoln Motor Co. to the Tuthilltown distillery in upstate New York. The tripped featured four 2016 Lincoln vehicles including 3 MKX’s and 1 MKC. The smooth, comfortable ride allowed us to see the sights in style. The distillery gave us a tour, showed us their amazing whiskey, vodka, gin and the process of making whiskey.
The trip started in midtown Manhattan with Nigel Degraff @nigel_d, Belise Thomas @belisethomas, Dewayne Evans @News11 Robert Peterson @roberthp, Jessica Castro @msjcastro, Brett Williams @bdwilliams910, Stephanie Strickland @Perstephon3, Sysko Lopez @Sysko212, and Marcus John @stylemarcusjohn, with four cars, 3 Lincoln MKX’s and 1 MKC. The MKX is midsize luxury crossover SUV. Comfortable and well equipped, with a quiet interior with spacious rear seats; comfortable ride quality; a lot of features plus a turbocharged V6 engine. The MKC is a comfortable compact luxury crossover. 10 influencers, 4 cars, and so much conversation. The Lincoln’s calm and comfortable ride made a hour and a half trip seem seamless.
The Tuthilltown distillery is home to Hudson Whiskey, Half Moon Gin, and Indigenous Vodka. The distillery is not just a place where they sell whiskey, but they produce it there as well. As we took the tour with tour master Ralph Erenzo, we learned about his struggle to get his distillery off the ground, and how he started making whiskey in New York when no one was producing liquor in NY. If you do anything in this world, make sure Ralph takes you on a tour. During the tour, we learned about the whiskey making process, how Ralph works with local farmers for his vodka as well as their bottling packaging. We saw the inside of the barrel used to store the whiskey, the place was pretty magical to the point where you can smell whiskey in the air, the wood, the oak, it felt like being behind the curtain of a secret place. Once you see the process, you appreciate the liquid you drink much more and you saw that appreciation in the faces of all the influencers. After the tour, we sat down at the bar and learned to make three of their signature cocktails; we also tasted their entire portfolio, which included whiskey, vodka (wheat, apple) gin, liqueurs and house made bitters.
Whiskey Frenz is continuing to bring experiences for all, as it just completed the 1st couples date night with a speed dating night ahead for 2017 February. Follow the series @whiskeyfrenz on all social media sites and make sure to drink responsibly, and never drive drunk.
