It's January 11th, NOW WHAT? by @ViewtifulJ21
We are all rolling out of bed and getting ready within our perspective days to take on the world somehow. What's your weapon of choice - Starbucks coffee or tea? It's another Monday, so most likely, you are posting that Instagram meme of a sad Spongebob face (or the Jordan cry face, whichever you prefer) getting the case of the Mondays again. "Oh boy, what is going to happen to me today?" It's officially the second week in 2016, and maybe the "new car smell" has lost it's kick. The goal sheet doesn't look as appetizing and the chatter of "can't" is becoming deafening. The world is full of can't. An example - you just started out within your gym routine and all you see are words of people who say that you get in the way. A dirty look or two, maybe that vine loop of someone hurting themselves that people pass around instead of helping. So, you lag behind and five days turns to three days, then two days until a monthly expense that you just incur. All of a sudden, those same goals end up turning into dust. We almost forget that we were all beginners at some point.
Making goals are the easy part. As you know, the dreams don't work until you do. It's the climb to the top of the mountain, every break of rock under your feet, every skin of the knee and every grain of dirt in your eye that's the toughest. Social media can both be your best friend and worst enemy. There are many words and images that can motivate you, but also make you cannibalize the best parts of you. Why can't I look like that? Why aren't I having that much fun? Maybe I'm just not that good enough?
I'm an energy person and a believer that whatever you give out into the world, you will receive ten fold. Whether it be positive or negative. Could it be that you are raining on your own parade? The payoff may not be immediate and it may be that we are falling in love with the "microwaved" version of success, but it will come if you really want it. Just remember about last year and the things that fell by the wayside. You still have a full slate to get things done because each day is another fresh chance to. Maybe you want to pick up the phone and tell that person how you feel, start to write that book, or lose those pounds to feel better about yourself. No matter how big or how small, remember that you got through week one. In life, if you truly want to become who you want to be, you will have an occurrence of week ones. That's how you will keep growing and challenging yourself. The beginning is always going to be daunting, but just imagine how it will feel when you cross the finish line?
Now, I know you don't need yet another "self-help" blog telling you that everything is going to be alright - but it will be.. It will also be difficult, you are also going to want to quit and have people to tell you to turn your back on everything that makes you whole. Don't forget that feeling of renewal in January 1st. It's January 11th, the first quarter, and absolutely your choice as to where it's going to go.
